My roo Stripey is making weird donkey bray like noises and his mouth is gaped open!? What could it be? How much is a vet visit for a chicken, we dont have much money at all!|||It may be just a simple cold, make sure coop is dry and damp conditions are a major factor, what other symptoms does he have? ie runny nose, what about his eyes? it makes a diff to know! it may pass, but may get worse, is he drinking? eating since you noticed? plz reply, may I add alot of vets dont deal with chickens and most of those that do have no idea what their talking about, 拢20 roughly to look at him, + treatment, alot of vets will try and convert their usual bird knowledge to Chickens but really you need a proper chicken keeper/farmer to ask, if you do go to a vet, ask if they have qualifications in chickens rather than do you see chicken!!!! it makes a diff, ill check later to c if u replied on further symptom|||Im really sorry to hear that babe, so upsetting, sometimes we just dont know, recently I took my R. I. R Rooster to the vet, she charged me 拢20 for a miss diagnosis, I knew what was wrong and knew that I couldnt save him, he was 7 years old and my total pride of joy, So sad xx

|||I have chickens & none of the vets in my rural area treat chickens, even though they treat large livestock--horses, cows, goats, etc.It doesn't pay to take a chicken to the vet anyway.
I have over-the-counter anitbiotic & dewormer that was very inexpensive. I bought this stuff at the local Feed Mill. But if that doesn't work, I just let them die or slaughter them.|||I have had chickens it would be cheaper to buy a new chicken. Call a large animal vet they usually pretty helpful just over the phone.|||that question is too general, i advise calling the vet, it might be free, and could cost anything depending on what it has|||sounds like he's choking... give him water and look down his throat to make sure he didn't eat something too big
