for anyone who read the book, i have a question about what happened to the mother at the end of the book. was she always that evil creature that she transformed into at the end of the book? or was the creature simply pretending to be her throughout the book? im doing a book report on it, and just don't get it. thanks!|||The creature was never actually Gemma's mother. At least that was what I inferred from it. In my mind, there was something just disguising itself to get on Gemma's side. (I'm sorry if that's wrong; it's been a little while since I've read the book.)
