Unless you are talking about a book other than Libba Brays, Gemma Doyle series. Her books are about a group of young girls in the late 1800's going to school, magic, adventure, and a little bit of romance. Bloody Jack is about pirates, living in the streets of london as an orphan, and a girl pretending to be a boy, etc etc. True, may be a FEW similarities but it is a great exaggeration to say the she 'took most of'' his ideas. Also, which name are you talking about? 'Mary'? That is an extremely common name.
