What happend at the end of the book?? I have read the book but need some refreshing.|||Ann has gone to stay with Felicity for the holidays, and with Felicity's assistance, parades around pretending to be Russian nobility. Ann hopes this will impress Tom, among others, whom she has fallen in love with. Felicity's mother returns from Paris, and gossip is all about. After Felicity's parents take in her orphaned cousin, Polly, as a ward, Felicity tells Polly to lock her doors and "not let Uncle in"; Gemma surmises that her friend was molested by her father as a little girl. Gemma must also tend to her father, who is taken ill several times and is eventually placed in a rehab sanatorium.
<_X|||Gemma found out that Miss Moore was Circe, but that was AFTER she took her into the realms to help them save Ann. She also finds out that the temple is the Caves of Sighs - the last place ANYONE would think to look. Circe found her way into Gemma's dreams, so she knows it too. She takes Nell Hawkins as a sacrifice to get the temple's magic, but can't bind it to herself. Gemma, Ann, and Felicity go to bind the magic themselves, and in the process they tell Pippa that it's time for her to cross the river because her soul is becoming corrupted. Pippa runs to the Winterlands in her anguish. Gemma, Ann, and Felicity must let her go, so they go to bind the magic.
As Circe has Nell, Gemma must choose to shoot the last arrow, needing to kill Circe but not wanting to kill Nell on accident. Then she remembers what Nell said at the Bethlem Royal Christmas Ball as part of her performance, "Save one arrow for me, I shall have need of it. Do not hesitate, Lady Hope. Set me Free!" Gemma shoots Nell, killing her and compromising Circe's sacrifice. Gemma and Circe struggle for the temple magic in the Well of Eternity, where Gemma is triumphant and binds the magic to herself, imprisoning Circe in the Well.
Back in London, Gemma refuses Simon's court.
