I don't understand why that was so insulting.|||i got excited when i saw your question because i love that book. and then i read your question. crap. i don't know those answers but i'll try my best! 1) i think because the girls were considered angels by society. how they were young ladies and all but really they were rebels. i think. 2) i guess Kartik just thought Gemma was saying that she didn't care about a major part of him. like maybe his culture meant a lot to him and she was saying she didnt' think of him as that. obviously she didn't mean it like that but that's how he took it. sorry these answers stink!!!!
